Many of you are probably involved with the planning of summer events such as company picnics. Since these events will begin in the summer and continue into September, you may find these helpful hints useful when planning the entertainment.

• If your event is held at a park, try to arrange for the use of a shelter area. This will make it easier for you if unexpected showers arise. Shelters often have electricity available which can make for a better, more comfortable show for you! (e.g. Ray Wong often uses sound systems or magic illusions which require electricity)

• Be sure to guide your guests to the right location with maps, signs, balloons, or other location indicators.

• Plan for several activities to be happening at once; not everyone will want to participate in the volleyball game.

• If your event will include kids, have a treat or prize for everyone, not just the game winners (they all want to have fun!)

• If you haven't already done so, plan now! While many dates are still available, the best ones always go fast! By planning early, you can avoid disappointment when the entertainment, caterer, or location is already spoken for!

And finally, have fun! Planning an event doesn't have to give you headaches!
